Udaipur, City of Lakes, get its name because of its sophisticated lake system. It is the historical capital of the Kingdom of Mewar. Dubbed as “The most romantic spot on the continent of India”, it is a beautiful place in Rajasthan, with its Havelis and Ghats spread around the waters of the lake and in some cases like Jag Mandir, floating upon them. It still has its marvellous palaces and monuments, boat rides on the lake, the bustle of its ancient bazaars, its lively art scene, the quaint old-world feel of its better hotels, its endless tempting shops and some lovely countryside to explore on wheels, feet or horseback. Udaipur is a fascinating tourist destination that will win you with its history, culture, scenic locations, and Rajput-era palaces.
The Lake Palace (Jag Niwas) located in the middle of Pichola Lake is the finest example of what an architectural and cultural marvel should be. The Grand City Palace on the banks of the lake along with the Monsoon Palace (Sajjan Garh) on the hill above enhances the beauty of this magnificent city.
